We are running a preparation course for new volunteers in January and have some spaces left. If you would like to spend a few hours a week helping local families please get in touch. Our volunteers all find it really rewarding and our families appreciate the help and support they are given.
Maybe it could be your New Year’s Resolution!

Everyone felt they learnt a lot from yesterday’s session, although everyone said they still felt there was a lot more to learn.
Don’t forget that we will be doing a further workshop where families are welcome on Tuesday 31st October, 10-12 at the Wickham Centre.
Do come along and see if you are as surprised as us by some of the facts.
The follow on session which anyone is welcome to attend, and children will be very welcome, has been arranged for Tuesday 31st October, 10-12 at the Wickham Centre.
Please can you let us know if you would like to attend the workshop on 31st October 2017 so that we can book your place.
We will be running a Fussy Eating training workshop on Wednesday 11th October 2017 at the Wickham Centre from 10am – 12pm.
The session will be run by dietician, Annemarie Aburrow and will be a great exploration of fussy eating in children with a focus on dealing with a child who is a fussy eater and a further focus on healthy eating/providing healthy snacks.
We would love to see as many of you as possible for this great workshop which will also be open to the families we support. We will be sending out invites to the families directly but if you think the family you support could benefit, then please do remind them of the date and time of the workshop. Please note however that we are unable to provide a creche so parents will need to arrange their own childcare.
We intend to follow this session up with a family group session (where children would be very welcome) focused around this topic later in the month and will advise you of the time and date as soon as it has been finalised.
Please can you let us know as soon as possible if you would like to attend the workshop on 11th October 2017 so that we can book your place.
Our next Cameo meeting is Thursday 7th September, 10-12 in the Woodford Suite at the Wickham Centre.
We are hoping to get together some ideas for cheap and free days out for families so if you can bring some favourites with you we can put them together and share them with volunteers and families.
See you next week
Volunteer Ambassadors needed!
Could you make a real difference to the lives of local families with young children by using your skills to raise the profile of Home-Start Meon Valley in your local area?
We need people in the Southern Parishes of Winchester – we work throughout the Meon Valley including Meonstoke and Corhampton, Hambledon, Droxford, Exton, Durley, Curdridge, Knowle and Hedge End- who would enjoy networking and participating in information and promotion opportunities, fundraising events, meeting new people and spreading the word about the valuable work that we do!
The Volunteer Community Ambassador role would require a commitment of around 2-4 hours per month, is totally flexible around your life and is a great opportunity to meet new people, develop new skills and get more involved in your local community. If you have a few hours to spare and would like to get involved with our great service, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
To find out more about us please see our website: www.homestart-meonvalley.org.uk or call or email the Home-Start Meon Valley office: 01329 835936 Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
BHBF is going really well so far, but we want to support more families next year.
Are any of our existing volunteers interested in training to deliver Big Hope, Big Future. It’s just two days of training which will be this autumn, ready to start supporting families next year. You will be making a big difference in helping children fulfil their potential.
If you are interested, there’s a link to a leaflet below or get in touch if you want any more information.

A reminder for all our volunteers that the Safeguarding Update Training is on Thursday 14th September, 10-12 at The Wickham Centre.
Don’t forget our first ‘Come and Meet Everyone’ coffee morning will take place on Thursday 10th August 10 am -12 pm at The Wickham Centre.
Mark it in your diary and try and join us.
These sessions will provide a great opportunity for staff and volunteers to catch up informally to share ideas, talk through future plans and socialise with each other! They will be held regularly on a monthly basis with the day changing every time in order to enable as many people as possible to join us.
These CAMEO sessions will be very informal and will operate on a ‘drop in’ basis so there is no need to book.
