A bridge afternoon held at the end of February 2018 raised over £1400 for Home-Start Meon Valley. Our grateful thanks go to everyone who assisted with the planning and organising of the event and to all of those who pitched in to help on the day, preparing food etc. The day was a huge success. Special thanks go to David & Chrissie for hosting, and to Pippa for all her hard work. It is very much appreciated by all of us here at Home-Start Meon Valley.
If you would like to hold a fundraising event for us (big or small), we’d love to hear from you. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or ring 01329 835936
Home Start is taking part in this year’s Dorset Plane Pull to raise funds to support our work with vulnerable families in the Meon Valley on Monday 27th August 2018 from 10am onwards at Bournemouth Airport!
Will you join Home Start’s team???
We need 20 fit, strong, healthy people to make a commitment to be in our team, get some sponsorship, turn up on the day and pull the plane. We will provide you with sponsor forms and can help you set up a mydonate page linked to our charity account so that your sponsors can easily make online/mobile donations – we are asking each person to aim for a target of £250 each. Please check out our mydonate event page https://mydonate.bt.com/events/hsmvplanepull/458776 and contact us by emailing email@example.com or calling us on 01329 835936.
A very big thank you to Curdridge Amateur Dramatic Society who very kindly presented us with a cheque from the ticket sales of their panto.
We will be having a Christmas Party for our families and would be happy to see any of our volunteers as well. Many thanks to Pippa and Joe for doing the organising for this but if you can come along with or without your family it would be wonderful.
We will be having some drinks, snacks and games and the party will be finished off by a visit from Father Christmas.
Please let us know if you think you can come so that we have an idea of numbers for snacks. We will be sending out letters to families but please mention it as well when you visit.
The party will be on Wednesday 13th December, 10-12 at The Wickham Centre.
Don’t forget you can buy Home Start Christmas cards and help raise money for your favourite charity.
We have a few different designs, including one with free colouring pencils. They are all £2 a pack. We have them in the office and will also have them available at events and training leading up to Christmas.
As well as the Christmas Tree event at St Barnabas Church in Swanmore, we will have a tree at The Church of St. John the Evangelist, West Meon, Doctors Lane, West Meon GU32 1LR. the tree will be going up on Friday 15th December and will be there until the New Year.
Please mention our trees to family and friends to help publicise our service.
Barnaby’s coffee shop in Swanmore are having a charity day where they are donating some of their proceeds to Home-Start Meon Valley on Saturday 9th December.
Pop along and treat yourself to a coffee and cake and know that you are helping raise funds for us, and take all your friends.
At the same time pop next door to St Barnabas church where they are holding a Christmas Tree Festival weekend. Home-Start Meon valley will have a tree in the festival to help raise awareness so please help spread the news.
Barnaby’s is well signposted from the main road. Look out for our distinctive green sign. There is a small car park in front of the main door, and a larger free car park on the opposite side of Church Road.
Do you know anyone that would like to start volunteering? Please pass on our information or tell your friends about this event.
