Could I make a good volunteer?

All of our volunteers at Home-Start Meon Valley are parents themselves or have had substantial parenting experience.  Our volunteers understand the challenges of daily family life that our families are experiencing.

All volunteers need to be able to offer 2-3 hours of their time, regularly each week and have some spare time to attend regular supervision meetings with wither Hayley or Laura our  Co-ordinators. These normally take place every 6-8 weeks.  We do ask that volunteers make at least one years commitment to our scheme.

We will offer you a full training programme so that you feel confident to take on the role of a Home-Start volunteer. The training covers such issues as what it is like to visit a family, confidentiality, safeguarding children, child development and play.

After you complete your 8 week Preparation Course and you are home visiting, you will be well supported in your role. Our co-ordinators are on hand to offer support and help with any issues. You will also be invited to attend regular training courses throughout the year such as First Aid, Autism Awareness, Safeguarding Refreshers and others that will help you in your role as a family facing volunteer.

We feel that it is important for volunteers not to be out of pocket whilst doing voluntary work so we will cover all your travelling expenses.  Please Contact Us
